Mevlâna Museum





Mevlâna Museum
In 1274 a mausoleum and in 1396 a conical hat covered with encaustic tiles were made for the rose garden that was given by the Sultan of Seljuks as a present to Mevlana Jalaladdin’s father. Bahaddin Veled, Sultan-ül Ulema (the Sultan of the doctors of Muslim Theology). This place which is the mausoleum of Mevlana Jalaladdin was opened to the visits as a museum in 1927. In the museum the works which have been protected since the time of Mevlana Dervish Convent and which belong to Mevlana and Mevlevilik (i.e., the state of being a Mevlevi who is a member of order of dervishes founded by Jalaladdin Rumi), the instruments of Mevlevi music, examples of calligraphy (a kind of handwriting), fabrics and carpets are exhibited. According to the official records 1,200,000 people visited the museum in 1993. According t the resolution of the Committee of Monuments the rearrangement of the base of the museum is done on December 10, 1993. Mevlana Museum


Karatay Museum of Works of Encaustic Tile





Museum of Works of Encaustic Tile
Karatay Medresseh (theological school of Muslims) which is used as a museum of encaustic tiles that belong to Seljuk period was built by Emir Jalaladdin Karatay in 1251 during the reign of the Seljuk sultan, Izettin Keykavus II. In 1955 it was opened as a museum of works of encaustic tile. In the museum wall tiles of Seljuk period, the tiles of Seljuk Mansion, Tiled bowls, wall tiles of Kubadabad Palace, the tiles belonging to the period of Beylikler (districts governed by Beys) and Ottoman period are exhibited. Besides, the medresseh, itself is covered with mosaic wall tiles


İnce Minaret Museum




İnce Minaret Museum Today it is used as a museum of stone and wooden works of Seljuk Period. It was built by the vizier Sahip Ata Fahrettin Ali between the years 1258-1279 during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Izettin Keykavus II for the purpose of teaching the Muslim learning of Hadis (record of a saying or action of the Prophet Muhammad). Its architect was Abdullah Bin Kellük. It was opened as a museum in 1956.


Sırçalı Medresseh Tomb Monument's Museum




Sırçalı Medresseh Tomb Monument's Museum Sirçali Medresseh was built by Bedreddin Muhlis in 1242 in order to teach the Muslim learning of Fikih (Muslim jurisprudence). It is a type of a medresseh (theological school of Muslims) with an open courtyard. In the museum there are tomb stones which are very valuable in terms of art and which belong to Seljuk, Beylikler (districts) governed by Beys) and Ottoman Periods.

Archeology Museum








It was opened to visits in 1962. The works that belong to Neolithic, Early Bronze, Hittite Phrig (Frig), Greek, Rome and Byzantine periods are exhibited. And the works that are found through the excavations made in Catalhüyük, Canhasan, Erbaba, Sizma, Karahüyük and Alaeddin Hill.

Ethnography Museum




Ethnography Museum The dresses of Konya, embroideries, belts, knitted pouches, various ethnographic works, the collections of guns and coins are exhibited in the museum which is on the Larende road. Etnoğrafya Müzesi

Atatürk Museum




Atatürk Museum The house built in 1912 was given as a present to Atatürk by the citizens of Konya in 1928. It was opened as a museum the clothes, properties, photographs and documents that belong to Atatürk are exhibited.

Koyunoğlu City Museum




Koyunoğlu City Museum The museum was an exhibition hall of 3,000 m2 in a large are. On the ground floor of the museum there are Anatolian civilizations department, coin department and an art gallery. On the first floor there is history of nature and on the top floor books of ethnography, carpets, rugs and handwritten books take place. On the same floor there is a library having 2,000 volumes in it.

The Region’s Library of Handwritten Works




The Region’s Library of Handwritten Works It began its service on July 20, 1984. The books which were handwritten and printed before 1928 and which were written on the topics that involve the period’s historic, geographic, literary, mathematical, astronomical, Medical and religious sciences are ready to serve the ones who make researches. 4,128 of these books are handwritten and 12,433 of them are printed.
